🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🇦🇺 27840 — Avesnes from Above: A Geometry of History
📍 Aerial panorama: the reading of an Artois town between urbanism and nature. This plunging perspective offers a unique reading of the local topography. One can clearly distinguish the radiation of the road axes connecting the town to the Artois countryside, as well as the parceling out of the land that makes our « Terrier » so rich. It is from here that one truly understands the importance of the green spaces woven into the mineral fabric, creating that particular landscape so dear to us.
For the researcher as for the curious, aerial photography is an irreplaceable tool. It allows for the visualization of the footprint of the ancient ramparts, the tracing of long-lost paths, and an appreciation of the majesty of Saint-Nicolas Church—a true lighthouse of stone in an ocean of bricks and slates.
